Pediatric kidney transplants in Tunisia a success Anil Vaidya from the Oxford Kidney Unit and Mignon McCulloch from Guy’s Children Hospital in the UK recently travelled to Sousse, Tunisia. With the support of the University of Ghent’s Renal Division, they successfully helped to carry out five pediatric LRD transplants at the city’s Nephrological Clinic at the University of Medicine Sahloul.According to Sister Renal Center Program Chair Paul Harden:“it is a major achievement for pediatric nephrology and transplantation in Tunisia. I understand this trip will be followed by a second visit to undertake three more joint pediatric LRD kidney transplants in November 2010, with the same team. This is one of many examples revealing the effectiveness of ISN Global Outreach Programs and more importantly the contacts that are built through Sister Renal Center partnerships. In January 2010, the Nephrological Clinic, University of Medicine Sahloul and the Renal Division, University of Ghent Hospital were granted Level B SRC partnership status. This enabled them to become an active joint program.
