Plymouth pensioner conned while husband had dialysis - This is Plymouth Print

TWO CONMEN stole around £150 after tricking their way into an 66-year-old woman's home.

The victim, who lives with her husband at a property in a Landrake cul-de-sac, was targeted by the two men at around 5.15pm on May 10. They claimed to be from a water company and were dealing with a "burst pipe in the area" and claimed they needed to put a dye in the victim's water supply.

However, while one kept her talking at the front door the other went first to her kitchen before searching other parts of her home, including her bedroom where the thief stole £150 in cash.

A police spokesman said the woman was alone at the time because her elderly husband was at a local medical centre undergoing dialysis. One of the suspects was described as white, around 5ft 10ins tall, slim to average build with short neat blond hair. He was clean shaven, in his mid 30s and wore a green sleeveless jacket with silver flashing and light blue denim jeans. The second man was aged between late 30s to early 40s, between 5ft 6ins and 5ft 7ins, of stocky build with short dark hair. He wore a "tweedy" greenish-brown peaked "old man's" hat, a black fleece jacket and dark trousers.

The victim said both men spoke with Irish accents.
