... http://www.nature.com/isn/news/soc_announ/fullview.html?content_id=75212 CME in Brunei With the support of ISN, the Third Nephrology Conference in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam was organised on June 26 and 27, 2010 by the Department of Renal Services of Brunei's Ministry of Health.Nephrologists and healthcare professionals participated in this two-day Continuous Medical Education (CME) course which covered the latest breakthroughs in patient clinical management. Marc Brown and Kriang Tungsanga received ISN travel grants to speak at the event. They talked about ISN Global Outreach activities such as CMEs. However, they also touched on the subjects of Chronic Kidney Disease, hypertension, transplantation and end stage renal disease.In Brunei Darussalam, diabetes is one of the major causes of kidney disease. More than 50 percent of end stage kidney disease cases are due to this illness. The country’s Minister of Health, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Adanan emphasized the importance of early screening and a healthy lifestyle in combating diabetes when he opened the conference.
